General Intercessions
Feast of the Holy Family
December 29, 2024

Presider: Paul instructs us in these words: “Because you are God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with heartfelt mercy, with kindness, humility, meekness and patience. Bear with one another, forgive whatever grievances you have against one another.” With these thoughts in mind, let us offer our petitions to the Father.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: we pray...  Respond: Lord, strengthen our family with love.

1.That Pope Francis, Bishop Luis clergy, religious, lay leadership, and catechists support in word and action the sanctity of family life, we pray...

2. That parents and grandparents remember the achievements and dignity of ancestors, sharing remembered goodness of their life’s stories with this new generation of sons and daughters, we pray...

3. That families on this feast day of the Holy Family gather for a meal together without electronic distractions and with table conversation about pleasant, shared experiences and hopes for the future, we pray...

4. That conflicts in families be resolved with tolerance, respect, and dignity for siblings and parents. That through the model of familial love in the Holy Family all families experience an infusion of God’s love, we pray...

5. That the family of humanity eliminate violence. That husbands and wives seek help to resolve conflicts. That persons abused are liberated from demeaning abuse and physical harm. That persons abused are given courage to seek help, we pray...

6. That families overcome harmful and demeaning competition. That parents encourage children to seek education, supportive friendships, and a faith in the dignity and worth of themselves, we pray...

7. That those who died this past week and those who are dying are welcomed into the heavenly kingdom by our Brother, Jesus, the Christ. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) __________ is (are) remembered in our prayers at this Mass and during this week, we pray...

8. Let us add our personal intentions: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with our gifts to God and the community that supports us, we pray...

Presider: Father in heaven, creator of all; you created the earth to bring forth life and crowned its goodness by creating the family of humanity. In history’s moment when all was ready you sent your Son to dwell in time, obedient to the laws of life in our world. Teach us to cherish the sanctity of human love, show us the value of human life, and help us live in peace with all humanity that we may share in your life forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord

Response: Amen.
