PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT

February 22, 2026

 

1.        In thanksgiving for the breath of life from conception to natural death.

 

2.        For Pope Leo XIV that the presence of your Holy Spirit may strengthen him to face the challenges of our world as Jesus faced the challenges from Satan in the desert.

 

3.        For God’s mercy at those times we choose what is pleasing to us but causes harm to others.

 

4.        In thanksgiving for the gift of Jesus’ choice and self-sacrifice that shows us the difference one person can make for the redemption of the world.

 

5.        In thanksgiving for the gifts bestowed on each of us. May we use our gifts as Jesus did to love, to heal, and to reconcile.
