Each week Dennis Keller is posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies.  He is a lay Dominican from the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina.  He also provides weekly input for our feature Volume II.

General Intercessions for Palm Sunday - April 13, 2025

Presider: We begin the most compelling, holy week of our liturgical year this week. The remembering of the Exodus from Egypt, the liberation from the Babylonian Captivity are harbingers of the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven through the passion, death, and resurrection. God’s promise to always be with us is remembered again. With confidence, then, let us offer our prayers to the Lord.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, hear our prayer”

1.That Pope Francis’ work, exhortations, and encyclicals inspire us to follow in imitation of the Lord, we pray...

2. That Bishop ______, clergy, consecrated religious, and educators carry the crosses of their work to benefit the faithful they shepherd, leading them through suffering to the resurrection, we pray...

3. That the faithful are inspired to attend the services of remembrance in this week of prayer, inspiration, grieving, and exultation, we pray...

4. That first responders, medical professionals, educators, and social service workers assume with grace the difficulties in their service to the broken, the disenfranchised, and those in chains of poverty, we pray...

5. That military personnel bear their burdens of service looking to the cross and the empty tomb as their inspiration to work for peace and justice, we pray...

6. That migrants are recipients of the Judeo-Christian tradition of caring for widows, orphans, and aliens in our midst we pray...

7. That political parties commit to the common good in place of any destructive, competitive pursuit of power, we pray...

8. That those who died this past week (list here) ________ and those approaching death’s door are encouraged by faith and welcomed by Jesus. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) _________ is (are) remembered in our prayers, we pray...

9. That our parish community is aware and supportive in prayer and charitable works all persons in the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), we pray...

10. Let us raise to God our needs and concerns of hand, mind, and heart: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with the financial gifts we offer for the needy of our community, we pray...

Presider: Father of all that is, may your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth. We ask this in the name of your Son, Christ our Lord in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

Response: Amen.
