Solemnity: Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
December 9 (moved from the celebration of the Second Sunday of Advent) 2024

Presider: Christ loved and continues to love all of creation and the People of God in the Church. He gave himself up to make us holy. The Father loves his Word/His Son and those his son has called together. Let us, then, with confidence offer our prayer to the Father.

1.That the Spirit of God inspire Pope Francis, Bishop Luis, Clergy, Religious, and Lay leaders in their teaching to the People of God to call on Mary as our intercessor, we pray…

2. That God, the worker of creation and miracles, chose Mary to be mother of us all through the human nature of the Son. By her intercession may strength be given to the weak, comfort to the sorrowing, pardon to sinners, health to the physically maimed and ill, and healing to the mentally ill and troubled, we pray…

3. That through the intercession of Mary the Queen of Peace, that statesmen, diplomats and heads of governments establish procedures to prevent war and support peace and prosperity to all nations. We pray…

4. That Mary’s motherly love become the model for parents in raising children in faith, in discernment, and love of truth, we pray…

5. That the life of Mary the Protector and Model of mercy and compassion provide energy motivating the efforts of first responders, police, military, educators, and those who heal body, mind, and soul, we pray…

Presider: O Lord, graciously accept our prayers we offer to you on this Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Mother of Jesus and Mother to all. Grant that through her conception that we might be untouched by sin, that through her intercession we may be delivered from all our faults, through Christ our Lord.
