Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.



CELEBRANT: Jesus listened to the cries of sinners, even when on the cross.  Let us now bring the needs of our Church and our world to our servant king.

 1.  That we, who bear the name of the Christ, may honor the Gospel Jesus by bearing witness, through our humble service, to his kingdom of justice, love, and peace, we



2.  That peoples in conflict, especially in the lands of Ukraine, Russia, and Ethiopia, may turn from anger to understanding, from hardness of heart to reconciliation, from war to peace, we pray...


3.  That all whom we have met on the pages of Luke’s gospel in this year of Grace, the little and the lowly, the outcasts and the sinners, may have an honored place at our table, we pray...


4.  That those who are mentally or physically challenged, hungry or homeless or addicted may find the Christian community’s compassion to be like the dawning of Christ’s kingdom, we pray...


5.  That the nations may resolutely commit to doing whatever is necessary to save the planet that is home to all, we pray...


6.  That our Church may be graced with vocations to the priesthood and the religious life for the sake of the believing community; and, our service men and women and First Responders graced with safety, we pray...


7.  That the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends may be gifted with the comfort of love and the healing touch of our God, (especially ____________, we pray...


8.  That the sorrowing may find their hope in Easter’s promise; and, ____________, (and) all our beloved dead know the joy of paradise, we pray...


CELEBRANT: Praised and blessed be you, Lord Jesus, who are king of kings, our shepherd and savior God.  Teach us that strength lies in gentleness, and in your great mercy receive our petitions.  This we pray of you who live and reign as Lord forever and ever.
