Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

CELEBRANT: As we wait in hope for the coming of the Lord Jesus, let us make this sacred place of our gathering to resound with prayer for all in need.

READER: Please respond, “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.  That God’s people, in times of great turmoil, may be a beacon of faith to the world community, humbly and generously serving and offering hope to all who suffer, we pray...

2.  That, whenever nation rises against nation, people of good will on both sides may stand up for sanity and speak out for peace with justice, we pray...

3.  That across the globe those made hungry, thirsty, or destitute by the forces of nature may receive from their sister and brother human beings what they need to survive and be restored, we pray...

4.  That by our worship, witness, and good stewardship, we may become stones built up as a living temple to the glory of God, we pray...

5.  That there may be an increase in vocations to the priesthood and the religious life for the sake of the believing community, and our service men and women and our emergency services personnel kept safe, we pray...

6.  That the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends may be gifted with the comfort of loved ones and the healing touch of our God, (especially ____________,)

we pray...

7.  That that the sorrowing may find their consolation in Easter’s promise; and, ____________, (and) all our beloved dead come to the fullness of life and the everlasting embrace of God’s love and peace, we pray...

8.  We pause to express, in the silence of our hearts, our personal intentions.

That God may speedily respond to our personal concerns, we pray...

CELEBRANT: O God, the beginning and the end of all things, you so much desire to fashion us into a living temple for your Son.  Through all of life’s changes and challenges, may we persevere in faith, hold fast to the hope of your kingdom, and come to possess eternal life.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
