Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

 THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

CELEBRANT: Mindful that the prayers of the lowly pierce the clouds, in our need we humbly turn to the God of love.

READER: Please respond, “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.  That the Church may live compassionately, in its own communities, the love of God and of neighbor it preaches to others, we pray...

2.  That the ongoing conversations of the Synod taking place in Rome may lead the Church to be more the household of God that our God would have it be, we pray...

3.  That the insanity of war may yield soon and very soon to the cessation of hostilities for the peoples of Israel, Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan, we pray...

4. That the immigration policies of these United States may mirror the justice and compassion of the God who this day reminds us not to molest or oppress the alien among us, we pray...

5.  That all who bear the name of the Christ, young and old and in-between, may use their God-given gifts of time, talent, and treasure wisely and without reservation in service of their neighbor’s need, we pray...

6.  That the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends may be gifted with loving caregivers and the healing touch of our God, (especially) ____________________, we pray...

7.  That Easter’s great promise may lift up the hearts and spirits of all among us mourning loved ones; and                              , (and) all our beloved dead, who served the living and true God, come to the everlasting embrace of God’s love and peace, we pray...

8.  We pause to express, in the silence of our hearts, our personal intentions

-(PAUSE)

That God may receive with a special kindness those unspoken concerns, we pray...

CELEBRANT: Gracious God, you call us to live in love and to act in justice. Listen to the prayers of your faithful people.  Be merciful when we falter; grant us strength to persevere in all that is good.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
