Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

 TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

CELEBRANT: Let us now raise up in prayer the needs and the burdens of our sister and brother human beings, entrusting all to our loving God.

READER: Please respond, “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.  For God’s holy church: may it faithfully pass on the Spirit-filled wisdom of the ages and welcome without fear new insights into the mystery of God’s love, we

pray...

2. For national rulers and military leaders: may they labor mightily, compassionately, and effectively to harvest peace and justice for the suffering people of so many war-torn lands across the globe, especially Ukraine, we pray...

3. For all workers in these United States: may they be blessed with economic justice and harmony in the workplace; and, for the gift of employment for those seeking meaningful labor, we pray...

4.  For the blessing of wisdom from on high for this academic year for students, teachers, and administrators, and for all to grow through that wisdom in their reverence for one another and for the human family, we pray...

5.  For migrants, refugees, and strangers in our midst: may they find hope in our concern for justice, and feel the warmth of our love, we pray...

6.  For the safety of all our First Responders and of the women and men in uniform, we pray...

7.  For the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends to be gifted with the comfort of loved ones and the healing touch of our God, (especially __________,) we pray...

8. For the mourning to be renewed in hope by Easter’s wondrous promise; and __________, (and) for all our beloved dead to come to eternal rest in the embrace of God’s love and peace, we pray...

CELEBRANT: All-wise and loving God, our refuge through the ages, listen to the prayer of your humble servants who rely on your kindness.  This we ask through Christ our Lord.
