Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

CELEBRANT:  Through Christ Jesus, the Good Shepherd, let us pray for the needs of all God’s flock.

READER: Please respond, “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.  That Pope Francis, his brother bishops, and all in Church leadership ministries may lead the faithful with humility and integrity, and serve the flock that belongs to the Good Shepherd with compassion and love, we pray...

2.  That all lands beaten down by war, especially Ukraine and Yemen, may soon rejoice in being free from the cycle of hatred, and come to experience a Sabbath time of healing and peace, we pray...

3.  That, for the sake of the believing community, many of our young may answer the call to follow the Good Shepherd as priests and religious, we pray...

4.  That our mothers and all who play a mothering role in our lives may know the blessings of peace and safety, health and happiness, we pray...

5.  That mothers who hurt in any way may feel the healing touch of God and of God’s disciples; and those who mourn, especially their mothers, have every tear wiped from their eyes by Easter’s glorious promise of life, we pray...

6.  That the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends may be gifted with comfort, love, and the healing touch of our God, (especially ____________), we pray...

7.  That our deceased mothers and all our parishioners, family members, and friends, who have passed on marked with the sign of faith, may live with the risen Lord forever in a peace beyond understanding, we pray...

8.  We pause to express, in the silence of our hearts, our personal intentions -

                                           (PAUSE)

That our God may receive with kindness those unspoken concerns, we pray...

CELEBRANT:  Gracious God, lead us to follow always your path to life.  Help us to embrace all with kindness and love.  Accept with compassion these our prayers which we raise up to you through Christ, the Good Shepherd, who is our Risen Lord forever and ever.  Amen.
