Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

CELEBRANT: In the name of Jesus, whom the God of our ancestors has raised up and exalted as Leader and Savior, let us pray for all in need.

READER: Please respond, “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.   That the Church, called by the Risen Lord to be like the fishing net of the gospel, may be rich in diversity and unbroken in unity, we pray...

2.  That Pope Francis and his brother bishops may serve the Lord’s flock with humility, integrity, and compassion, we pray...

3.  That innocents who live in Ukraine and other places, in anguish and fear from war, and indeed all peoples may soon and very soon know the blessing of a springtime of peace, we pray...

4.  That those who serve in our community’s ministries of worship and witness may tend well the flock entrusted to their care, we pray...

5.  That those who earn their living by the sea may enjoy in safety an abundant catch, and the nations of the world make ever more efforts at preserving the beauty of the oceans and the fishes of the sea, we pray...

6.  That young people may be attracted to vocations to the priesthood and the religious life for the sake of the believing community, we pray...

7.  That our service men and women in harm’s way and all our emergency personnel may go about their sacred mission in safety; and, the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends be gifted with love’s comfort and the healing touch of our God, (especially ___________) we pray...

8.  That those among us mourning loved ones may find hope and consolation in the God in whom life is greater than death; and, ___________, (and) all our parishioners, family members, and friends, who have passed on marked with the sign of faith, live with the Risen Lord forever in joy beyond understanding, we pray...

CELEBRANT: God of goodness and love, listen to the prayer of your people gathered to share this banquet of new and eternal life.  Wrap us in your loving mercy and help us to do the same for our neighbors.  Keep our faith and hope strong.  We pray this through Christ Jesus, our Risen Lord for ever and ever.
