Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER

CELEBRANT: In the name of Jesus, the Living One, let us intercede for those who share with us the sufferings and the glory of the gospel, and for all the human family.

READER: Please respond, “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.  That signs and wonders, born of faith and love, may be worked among all peoples through the holiness and compassion of believers who bear living testimony to the Risen Jesus and the Divine Mercy, we pray...

2.  That hearts may be transformed so that the makers of war, in Ukraine, Yemen, and across the globe, may become doers of reconciliation, mercy, and peace, we pray...

3.  That all who live in anguish and fear, arising from violence, poverty, hunger, or whatever ill may be delivered from their affliction by the compassion and caring of their sister and brother human beings, we pray...

4.  That those who struggle to believe and those who have lost hope as well as faith may be lifted up in heart and spirit by the community of believers, we pray...

5.  That our personal families may experience these Fifty Days of Easter as a time of healing, pardon, and mercy, we pray...

7.  That the hearts of the sorrowing in our community and in the land of Ukraine  may be wrapped in Easter’s glorious promise; and, _____________, (and)                            all our parishioners, family members, and friends, who have passed on marked with the sign of faith, live with the risen Lord forever in joy beyond understanding, we pray...

CELEBRANT: God of divine mercy and reconciliation, God of life, listen to the prayers of your people whose hearts are burning with Easter faith.  In these days, strengthen that faith, help us to be agents of your mercy, and bring us all closer to Christ Jesus, through whom we make our prayer and who is our Risen Lord, forever and ever.
