General Intercessions for Easter, March 31, 2024

Presider: The Lord is risen, Alleluia! To him be glory and power for all the ages of eternity. Let us open our hearts to the brilliance of his Resurrection and, in faith, offer petitions through Him to the Father by the grace of the Spirit.

Deacon/Lector/Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, hear our prayer.”

1. That the brilliant light of the Risen Christ may encourage and bless the work of Pope Francis, Bishop _____________, clergy, and faithful celebrating the victory of Jesus over sin and death, we pray…

2. That the wonder of the Cross may be an invitation to all nations to overcome sin and death as they seek the promise of resurrection, we pray…

3. That the outpoured Blood of the Risen Lamb wash away the idolatries of power, pursuit of accumulation, and obsessive pursuit of fame, we pray…

4. That the image of the Risen Christ, revealing the wonder and mystery of human life and the beauty of the created world, eliminate the culture of death, we pray…

5. That the Church imitate the Risen Jesus by reaching out to persons living on the margins of society: that they be empowered to seek opportunities for adequate employment and access to education, affordable housing, and health care, we pray…

6. That those who came into the eternal presence of the Risen Christ through death this Holy Week and for those approaching the portal of death: that they are freed of guilt and fear and have access to Anointing and the Apostolic blessing. May the sacraments be available to them in their last moments, we pray…

7. For the secret and unrecognized needs of each person in this assembly, that the Lord will ease their pain and lead them to the hope of the final resurrection. Let us pause for a moment, sending each petition to the Risen Lord.             (pause)         Let us pray.

Presider: On this day of days, may each disciple discover the joy of the appearance of the Risen Lord in the upper room and experienced by the two on the way to Emmaus. May joy lift us up from the burdens of anxiety and free us from the entrapments of the way of the world. We ask this, Father, in the name of your Son. We thank you, Lord, for this day of light and joy!

Response: Amen.

  "Blessings on your preaching."
