Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ. These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.
FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

2. That the leaders of this nation and every nation, soon and very soon, may commit themselves to serving their people with humility and to acting decisively and courageously for peace and for justice, we pray...
3. That those reviled and persecuted on account of the Christ may come to rejoice one day in the reward that will be theirs in heaven, we pray...
4. That Christian communities may seek out and befriend those crushed by sorrows, transforming darkness into light with words of comfort and deeds of hope, we pray...
5. That we who celebrate this Eucharist may be single-hearted in the service of God, seeking peace with all and serving with compassion, we pray...
6. That the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends may be gifted with love and the healing touch of our God, (especially __________,) we pray...
7. That _____________, (and) all our beloved dead may rejoice in the peace of the Kingdom and forever see God face-to-face, we pray...
8. We pause to express, in the silence of our hearts, our personal intentions - (PAUSE) That our God may receive with a special kindness those unspoken concerns, we pray...
CELEBRANT: God of mercy, we hunger and thirst for holiness, and long for the peace of the Kingdom that comes from you. Listen to the prayer of your people, and bring us one day to the peace that never ends. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
